Grand Radipds Public Library
The Grand Rapids Public Library was designed to take full advantage of its location on the Mississippi River. Central to the design concept is a serpentine wall that follows the form of the river and recalls earlier levees. This wall separates public and administrative areas, which are further differentiated through a contrast in physical form. Featured inside are a 150-seat multi-purpose meeting room and a periodical reading room that boasts comfortable seating with a 180-degree view of the river. Outside, a walking trail, small landing and outdoor amphitheater create a "reading park" right along the river.
